There are many different choices on the market when it comes to cabinets and shelves for your utility space.  But beware, not all cabinets are created equal.  There is a huge number of materials that a cabinet can be made from, and each material can be made in a large variety of shapes and sizes.  A cheaply made cabinet may be made from low strength materials, or utilize shelves that are not thick enough to support heavy loads.

Over time, if the cabinet or shelf is not strong, the weight may overcome the shelf’s strength and cause a gradual warping of the cabinet. Under humid conditions, it is possible for some shelves to bow with minimal to no weight on them at all, some times, in as little as six months.
