Every floor coating system has something different to offer. No one material can have all of the characteristics you want. This usually results in a compromise. For example, most epoxies have relatively high adhesive properties and moderate flexibility. Fillers and agents that are used to improve the chemical and abrasion resistance of many epoxies to make them suitable for exposure to certain environments, reduce the epoxy’s original adhesion, absorption, and flexibility. When you add agents to improve one area of performance, it usually takes away from properties in another area.

Granitex Polyphatic Glaze is an exclusive system, rather than just a coating. The Granitex Polyphatic Glaze performance begins with the Super Sealer base coating. Super Sealer is specially formulated to provide maximum adhesion along with superior substrate absorption. What this means, is that there is no surface profiling necessary. You don’t have to bead blast, diamond grind, or acid etch to get a surface rough enough for your coating to stick to. The super sealer uses the same pores that are created by water leaving the concrete as it cures. It soaks into these pores, expands, and hardens to yield great adhesion. As long as the surface is clean of contaminants, and/or previous coatings, there is no other prep required. You don’t need any special refacing equipment, or toxic chemicals to etch the floor, just K7 biodegradable cleaner/degreaser and J3 deactivating powder to neutralize and active compounds that may be on or in the concrete.

Super Sealer utilizes trailing polymers that do not cure at the same rate as the rest of the sealer. These polymers are what chemically fuse the Vortex and Granitex to the sealer, creating a chemical bond between the layers. This is where the rubber meets the road, so to speak, you have the Super Sealer being absorbed into the concrete for maximum bonding strength, which could not be obtained by a standard urethane coating, then a chemical bond between the topcoat and sealer. You get the best of both chemicals, buy utilizing each one were it will benefit you most. The Granitex topcoat cannot stick like Super Sealer, and the Super Sealer cannot resist UV light, chemicals, impacts, and abrasion like the Granitex top coat. Rather than mixing chemicals, additives and fillers, to get a result that is middle of the road the Granitex system utilizes a two step process that gets you everything you need without making sacrifices.
